Back in the 1940’s when veterans needed housing and the landscaping to go around it, Sergeant Hub Tures, from the tiny farm town of Des Plaines, decided it was a great time to lease a greenhouse and start a nursery.

His reputation for hearty, lush trees, shrubs and evergreens grew throughout the region.  And so did everything else. Did it ever.  More than half a century later it’s impossible to miss the hundreds of thousands of his specimens that grace everywhere from Glencoe to Grayslake.
